With the release of Gemma 4, a new family of open models is officially in your hands. Leverage local frontier intelligence, native function calling, and multimodal understanding to tackle core developer challenges.

Tell a story. Show us the problem and how your Gemma 4 application solves it in a powerful way.

While your technical execution is vital, the ability to communicate your vision through a compelling writeup and pitch is what will set the winners apart.

Hackathon Tracks

Track 1: AI for Legal Assistance

Use Gemma to build a multilingual AI legal assistant that a regular citizen can talk to in their own language, describe their situation in plain terms, and walk away with a clear understanding of their rights, their options, and their next steps.

Track 2: AI for Public Safety

$1000

Traditional public safety monitoring suffers from "alarm fatigue" due to passive, high-noise surveillance that lacks semantic context, often failing to distinguish between benign activities and actual emergencies. Current systems face two critical failures: reliance on cloud-based processing creates latency and privacy risks, while "black-box" pattern matching lacks the reasoning layer needed for reliable, forensic-grade verification.
